This painting in the ‘Contemporary-Retro’ style, is a whimsical and imaginative rendition of the famous French children’s song of the same name. I visited Avignon in 2002 when my husband and I went to Europe. In this composition, the Palace of the Popes serves as a gentle background, while the main subject is on the dancers on the Bridge. In reality, the bridge does not span the river any longer, and the Palace of the Popes is an imposing structure and the biggest tourist attraction of the city.
