Mangeshi Temple

A temple in Goa, India, dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Hindu families have a “family temple” that is the basis of their family’s religious tradition over many generations. Mangeshi is my family temple. I painted it in my sketchbook from a photo reference using a quick-sketch technique that focused on brushwork. It later resulted in a more developed painting, that is now in a private collection, but I still like the freshness and charm of the version from the sketchbook.
